Privacy & Data Policy
Last updated June 9, 2026
The work you bring to OysterProse — unfinished manuscripts, notes, characters, outlines — is among the most personal material a person produces. Protecting it is a precondition of this product, not an afterthought. This page describes exactly what we do with your data.
Your content is never used to train AI
Nothing you write or say in OysterProse — your manuscripts, notes, character profiles, outlines, or chat — is ever used to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's. This is a permanent commitment.
What we store
- Your account email address, used to sign you in.
- Your projects and everything in them — documents, the structure of your binder, the elements in your codex, summaries, and your chat history with OysterProse.
- For the guest demo (no account), an anonymized session counter that tracks usage limits. It is not linked to your identity.
How AI processing works
To respond in chat and develop your project, OysterProse sends your messages and the relevant parts of your project to our AI provider (Anthropic) over an encrypted connection. That data is processed only to generate the response you asked for. It is not used to train models.
We don't sell or share your work
We do not sell your content and do not share it with third parties for their own use. The only processors that touch your data are the services we use to run OysterProse — our database and hosting (Supabase) and our AI provider (Anthropic) — and they process it solely to operate the product on your behalf.
Deleting your data
You are in control of your data and can remove it at any time:
- Delete a project — open it and delete it; the project and all of its contents are removed.
- Delete your account— from your home page, choose “Delete account.” This permanently and immediately removes your account and every project, document, and note associated with it. It cannot be undone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Our core commitments — never training on your content, never selling it, and honoring deletion — will not weaken.
